Cleaning Tools to Buy For Your Home

Cleaning Tools to Buy For Your Home

Posted by & filed under Uncategorized.

Every home needs its own set of cleaning tools and materials because, unfortunately, a house won’t clean itself. The responsibility falls on you.

Trying to maintain a clean home can be cumbersome when your day is filled with all sorts of work and appointments. Making time to fit in cleaning in your list of “To do” isn’t exactly a priority some days.

We’ve listed down some of the most useful cleaning tools your home should have.

Microfibre cleaning cloths

Microfibre cloths top the list because of how versatile (and inexpensive!) they can be. Microfibre cloths are very much capable of holding unto dust when wet. Another great thing about microfibre cloth is that it doesn’t scratch surface areas.

They come in a variety of colors, which you can easily coordinate with certain parts of your house. For example, green stays in the living room, pink for the kitchen, yellow for the bathroom, so on and so forth.

Spray bottles

Fill spray bottles with natural cleaning solutions and keep them handy by leaving them near high traffic areas, like the kitchen or living room. When there’s something that needs to be cleaned,
you won’t have any excuse for not cleaning it!

Just remember to keep them hidden or away from children though, to prevent any accidents from happening.

Mop

No house shouldn’t be without a mop. When there’s a spill that needs to be cleaned, you’ve got the mop to do the job!

Make sure to clean the head every once in a while (say, every week or fortnight) to prevent molds from developing. If you’ve just mopped up something really gross like vomit, then it’s best to chuck it in the bin and buy a new one.

White towels

White towels are pretty handy clean up tools. You can use them first as a facial towel and when they’ve worn out, they can be used to clean the rest of your house. Like a microfibre cloth, a white towel can pick up dirt and soak up stains. What’s nice about a white towel is that you can bleach it when it’s stained.

A broom and dustpan

Swipe away those crumbs and other bits of trash using a broom and dustpan.

Depending on how big your house is, you can keep one or two sets of a broom and dustpan for convenient clean up.
There are brooms that are made of plastic, while others are more old school and are wooden. Whichever you’re more comfortable with, go for that one!

Scrub brush

A scrub brush will help scrub those grime and stains off of ceramic tiles and pipes. It’s also an effective tool in trying to get rid of hardened food in the kitchen counter and sink. Just make sure to use two different scrub brushes!

A bucket

A bucket has many uses.

The obvious one would be for mopping. You’ll need a bucket of mild cleaning solution to clean your floors.

When it’s not being used, you can store other smaller cleaning materials in the bucket so everything stays neat and organised. You can also use a bucket to water plants in the garden, when your car needs to be washed, or when you wash your windows,

Rubber gloves

Owning at least one pair of rubber gloves in the home is important. When you clean, you would be handling chemicals that might be too harsh for your skin or might cause allergic reactions. Using rubber latex gloves can help protect your hands. Prevent from getting your hands dirty too when you clean. Do you really want those mouldy bits to touch those hands of yours?

Squeegee

An essential, especially if your home has wide windows.

Aside from cleaning windows, the squeegee can be used around the house for other purposes:

  • Use it to get rid of pet fur stuck in the carpet and furniture. It can also be used for your cleaning your car’s upholstery
  • After showering, use a squeegee to wipe water droplets off shower doors and mirrors.
  • You can use the squeegee on your tiles too! It’s an effective cleaning tool that helps
    keep tiles clean and shiny.
  •  Keep a squeegee handy in the kitchen when you need to wipe your sink area.
  •  When you clean your hardwood floors, make sure to use a squeegee.
